Secondly instead of saying pitbull types the correct name is bully breeds which was the name used long before the breed American Bully was established. Third pitbull Terriers were not used for Bull baiting the original English Bull Bitter was, the cross between the original English Bull Bitter and the extinct English Terriers was used for dog fighting, the American Staffordshire Terrier and the American Pitbull Terrier DNA is the same before AmStaffs got that name they were registered as American Pitbull Terriers, but the AKC didn’t want the stain of dog fighting involved in there organization so all breeders of America Pitbull Terriers were told that there would be a name change and that for a period of time dogs were allowed dual registration but after a certain time they all would have to be registered as American Staffordshire Terriers.
